From the Voice of Jeanie

Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by the demands of your life? As busy as I am, I rarely feel truly overwhelmed. Perhaps that's because I practice what I talk about. And when I do get overwhelmed, I also practice what I talk about and breathe myself through challenges.

Have you listened to the free brief guided meditations that are posted at Voice of Jeanie Marshall Web Site? I have recorded 3-5 minute brief meditations for many clients, so they can listen through the phone in their office for a means of calming themselves down or lifting themselves up. On MP3 files, I have two sets of guided meditations just for you. They are Experience the Energy Flow and Mid-day Quick Tune-up. Request the Download Links.

Featured CD Album

Cover, The Confidence of Feeling Good

Would you like to feel better about who you are and what you do? Have you lost touch with what makes you feel really good?

The Confidence of Feeling Good features all the powerful elements of the Focused Energy Work Process in a 28-minute guided meditation. It helps to put you in touch with how good it feels to feel good. It's acceptable to feel not-good (it's even essential from time to time); the key is to notice when you are feeling not-good so you can more easily find your way back to feeling good.

Thoughts on Meditation

In dialogues with clients, I often ask what they want and then follow their answer with a question that helps them to articulate what they think they will feel when they experience the desired dynamic, result, or thing. Regardless of the actual word they use to describe the feeling, they always express a "good" feeling.

In spite of this , it is very interesting to me that many people dismiss the importance of feeling good and settle for being annoyed, even if only mildly annoyed, or grumpy, or unkind. If it has become familiar to you to be less than happy, I suggest you find ways to make happiness more familiar and frequent.

I find that those with regular meditative practices are generally happier in their lives when they are meditating regularly than those times they forget to meditate. Meditators also tend to be happier compared to non-meditators. I have a rather broad definition of "meditation," so I am not referring only to those who meditate in a certain posture for a certain period of time each day. I do think daily meditation is one of the keys to feeling good more of the time.

Happiness is one "good" feeling. There are many other good feelings. The many other good feelings are wonderful because of both variety and movement. The movement from one feeling to another feeling is energizing. You will not "always" be happy; you will not "always" feel good. But if you know how to move your feelings from one to another, you will find it easier to move from a not-good feeling to a good feeling.

So, my encouragement to you this month is to find ways to feel good on a regular basis, at least several times a day. Perhaps you will call those ways "meditation" or you may have other ways to classify your activity or non-activity. Just count the times and you will find yourself feeling better and better.
