JMvoice Ezine from

February, 2007
As I breathe in the cool Santa Monica air, I think, how good it is to be alive. So much comes with the air — breath, oxygen, sound, movement. Your breath is a powerful way to gauge your own balance and togetherness with yourself. As you breathe in, notice. As you breath out, notice.
This is the month of Love on the DailyAffirm Transformational process. Please check out DailyAffirm. We have created the DailyAffirm BookStore to highlight books and other resources related to the monthly themes. Please visit the BookStore Section on Love for February.
Breathing is simple. Love is simple.

Do you ever feel pressured? Overwhelmed? Scattered? Confused? Finding the Balance in Your Breath gives you the relaxing break you need to regain your balance and enhance your personal empowerment. You will discover how, with practice, you can find your balance, especially in your breath. You can learn through experience how it feels to lift yourself up or calm yourself down by focusing fully on your breath. When you listen to this guided meditation regularly, you will more easily and naturally experience balance, peace, strength, and fulfillment throughout your daily life.

Breathing is simple; breathing is powerful. Of course, breathing is a natural, normal function, which you usually do unconsciously. I'm an advocate of unconscious breathing. I'm also an advocate of conscious breathing.
When you breathe consciously, you focus on your breath. That focus can be transformational. Your breath moves, so your focus shifts subtly as you breathe in and breathe out. When the focus of your attention is on a neutral or pleasant subject, you raise your vibration. Since energy is an essential element of my work, I notice how a person's energy changes depending on the focus of attention.
Your breath is always with you. Many meditators us a candle or music or constant sound for focus. These are wonderful focal points for meditation, but may not always be with you. Truly, you can use any point of focus that you find pleasant or neutral to smooth your energy and lift your vibration.
Focusing on your breath as a way to regain balance is an exercise that can take a few seconds or perhaps a few minutes. A full meditation is usually 20-60 minutes, depending on your preferences. I have watched clients, most of whom work in corporations, take less than a minute many times through the day to replenish themselves with focused breathing. The most challenging aspect of this exercise is to remember to do it in the midst of frenetic do-do-do.
Remember to breathe consciously from time to time. It can rejuvenate you in ways that are unexpected.
