Instructions
Find a comfortable place sitting or lying down where you can be fully relaxed and open to the ideas and energy of this guided meditation. After settling down, take three long, deep breaths to calm and empty yourself.
Purpose of this Meditation
The purpose of this guided meditation is to help you develop a new relationship with time by connecting with its essence. I encourage you to let go of the idea of limitations. As a result of working with this meditation, you're likely to feel more at ease about time commitments.
A Guided Meditation, Written
I use this vehicle of the written word to share this guided meditation. This is a transcription of a spontaneous meditation. I consider my meditations are primarily a transfer of energy rather than knowledge or words. I use repetition to anchor the energy, rather than as a strategy to press a particular point or fact.
Reading this Meditation
This guided meditation is designed to be read aloud alone or with others. The designation "......" indicates a pause, during which you may choose to be quiet or close your eyes and experience whatever comes to you. The ...... may look awkward as you glance at the page. However, when you are reading the meditation it serves as a reminder to slow down generally and pause at that place.
If you're reading and meditating in the same sitting, read a sentence or two at a time and pause with your eyes closed as long as it feels appropriate. If you prefer to make an audio tape recording for your own personal use, read the meditation slowly in one sitting, pausing appropriately, and then listen in subsequent sittings.
You may find it helpful to change the voice from "you" to "I" either throughout the meditation or in certain parts, if you are reading it just for yourself.
In the Presence of Time
(A Guided Meditation for you)
And so now, this is a special time, a time just for you. A time for you to relax and to let go. ......
As you find your comfortable and relaxed place, give your attention to your breathing. Breathe naturally. ...... Breathe in and breathe out in the perfect rhythm for you right now. ......
Breathe in light and breathe out darkness. ...... Breathe in illumination and breathe out distortion. ...... Breathe in freedom and breathe out limitation. ......
Breathe. ......
Open yourself so that your consciousness can increase, expand, lift, rise. As your consciousness lifts and shifts, you can more easily let go of the limitations of time. ...... Move now to the center of the presence of time, a place in consciousness were time by the clock is irrelevant. ...... Experience this consciousness. ...... Touch its texture. ...... See its color. ...... Hear its music. ...... Feel its energy. ......
Stay as long here in this consciousness as you choose. ...... Feel your expansion. ...... Discover aspects of this consciousness so that they become familiar to you. ...... With greater familiarity, you can return here easily. ...... ...... ......
From the center of the presence of time, you can move in consciousness to any time period, to any place, at any distance, to any dimension. And you can move there, in an instant. ......
Identify a place or a time in which you desire to be right now in consciousness. ...... First, move your attention to your mind’s eye, right in the middle of the forehead. And then, move into the past, into the future, or into the present — wherever you desire. There is no limitation in the presence of time. ...... After you have decided where you wish to move, simply go there, be there, fully in your awareness. ......
Experience this place, this time. ...... Notice all that you can notice. ......
Open your inner eyes ...... and see. Observe the colors, the shapes, the forms. ...... Notice whatever draws your attention.
Open your inner ears ...... and listen. Listen for sounds, for words, for vibrations. ...... Notice whatever attracts you. ......
Open up your awareness in your physical body. Notice what you feel: ...... sensations, heat, cold, tingling, tightness, looseness, a gentle breeze. ......
Open your emotional body to feel the emotions that speak to you right now. ......
Notice your physical body to sense or feel the clothes you are wearing. Or you may notice that you are not in your physical body right now. ...... Perhaps you have become a flower or pure spirit or an animal or a tree. ...... Notice, just notice. ......
Notice how you perceive yourself in the center of the presence of time. ...... In this center, healing takes place instantly. ...... You also have instantaneous access to wisdom and illumination. ...... Memories and experiences which you may not remember during time by the clock, here, you know, without a doubt. ......
Go deeper, now, into the presence of time. ...... Become more familiar with its texture, with its center, with its substance. ...... Float here, or swim, or fly. ...... Feel your strength in this deep substance called “the presence of time.” ......
From the very center of the presence of time, expand in an outward direction. ...... Feel yourself becoming surrounded by this presence of time. It may feel like you are swimming. You may choose to move your arms or legs like a swimmer. ...... Or perhaps you feel like flying, so you move your legs and arms like a bird moves its wings and legs. Perhaps you feel like you are floating and you allow yourself to be carried by this substance, the presence of time. ......
Continue to swim, float, or fly, allowing the substance to permeate the cells of your body in the physical, the emotional, the mental, and the spiritual layers. ...... Each one of these layers opens to be washed by the substance of the presence of time. You do not need to do anything, simply allow yourself to be, to open, to relax, to swim, to fly, to float, as effortlessly as possible. ......
You may find that you are still in the place that you identified at the beginning of this guided meditation, or you may find that you are light years away from that original place. Notice where you are. ...... If you are in the same place in time, notice more deeply than before. ...... And if you are in a new place in time, notice the details here. ......
Touch, taste, smell, hear, see, and feel the dynamics of where you are now in consciousness. ...... Allow yourself to deepen your awareness of the substance of the presence of time. No need to rush. ...... Stay. ...... Notice. ...... Experience. ...... Explore. ...... ...... ......
And now, imagine that you are creating or discovering a container, a vehicle. Imagine this as a container into which you place yourself so that you can maneuver through time. You determine the size, the shape, and the substance of this container. ...... It may feel like a time and space capsule, or a time ship, a crystalline structure, a sports car, an airplane, or a boat. ...... Or perhaps your container is more elusive, an amorphous cloud-like substance. ...... This is your own special container for maneuvering through time, which does not need to be like any one else’s time container. ......
You reach your container by going first into the center of the presence of time. ...... Your container stays positioned there, ready for your use. No one but you can use this container, although you may invite others to ride with you at any time. ......
Once you are inside your container you can direct it anyplace: into the middle of a project that has many elements and deadlines, a task that you find troublesome or annoying, a past memory that you wish to recover or release. ...... You may maneuver your time container into places that are joyful or troublesome, confusing or clear, powerful or disempowering. ...... ......
Wherever you maneuver your time container you find that time by the clock adjusts to your consciousness. ...... You have more time to do what you love to do. As activities seem cumbersome or challenging, you maneuver through them in your time container. The more familiar you are with your own time container, the more you can maneuver effortlessly through time. ......
You may want to draw a picture of your container. ...... Simple lines can capture a complex crystalline structure, or a capsule, or a missile, or a house, or a car, or a ship. ...... Riding only once in your time container can give you a valuable experience maneuvering through time, expanding it or contracting it. ......
Regular use of your time container will assist you in having mastery over time, in time. You can learn to shift time in ways that help you feel empowered. ...... While you are still in your time container, decide when and how often you will return. ......
Experience yourself deep in the energy of your container. ...... Explore it from the inside ...... and the outside. ...... Feel its vibration. ...... Notice its color, the thickness of the walls, the texture, the smell, the taste. ...... You may be aware of many sensations or only a few. Become as familiar with it as possible. ......
By spending a few minutes each day or several times a day moving into the center of the presence of time and then into your container, you find that time is more elastic and pliable than you had thought. ...... You find that you remember more easily what you need to do. ...... You show up on time by the clock. ...... You find deadlines comfortable to meet. ...... You find yourself ruling your own life. ...... You have transformed the ruler of time. ......
And so now, allow yourself to begin to return to time by the clock: ...... time measured in activities, days of the week, hours of the days, appointments, and deadlines. ...... If you find yourself losing your balance, slow down and remember to breathe. ...... ......
And as you return to clock time, recognize that you are returning from another consciousness of time, the infinite flow of energy. ...... Both these times exist concurrently. ...... Celebrate the existence of time. Celebrate the end of the rigid rule of time. Celebrate your mastery of time in time. ......
Breathe. ......
